On this page we will post YG team pictures from their own individual travels and fishing forays as well as from our friends.

Roy Nakano and Andy Batcho caught and released several chum salmon while fishing Sawmill Creek in Sitka, Alaska in 2008.  Here are a couple of the typical chums they caught that day!

Andy also was invited Washington State Fisheries to participate in a "Fishing for Science" (yeah, right!) project on the closed waters of the Cedar River near Landsberg, WA. The selected anglers were to catch as many fish as possible for the scientists who were collecting data on the fish.  Andy is pictured with a beautifully colored Coho salmon he caught that day.  It was snowing, and the fishers stood in ice water for the all day test fishery.

Dave from Yellowknife, Canada caught this monster artic char on an un-named River up way, way, WAY  north.  He told us that while they have 1/2 of the fresh water in Canada, they really only have one road in and out!!

Mark Taylor & Andy Batcho went to Pass Lake, near Deception Pass Washington in October '05. Pass Lake is a "catch & release, fly fishing only lake" Mark had heard that the big fish in the lake were chasing minnows near the shore. We arrived at 7AM, launched an aluminum boat & float tube and rowed across the lake. Mark was right, the shores were covered with 1-1/2" minnows and big trout were actively chasing them in the downed tree branches and shoreline reeds.Andy used a Red Carey Special fly on his Orvis T3, 9'- 5 wt., Mark a Muddler Minnow on a 9'- 5wt. Sage. We caught several nice Rainbow Trout (16" - 18"). Andy made a cast into the reeds late in the day, made a couple of fast strips and had the rod nearly jerked out of his hands. The trout took a huge jump & I realized it was a nice Brown Trout. A few minutes later this beautiful Brown came to the net.(Brown Trout Picture)

Andy & his wife Georgia went on vacation to Arizona in late December '05. Andy wanted to catch an Apache Trout on this trip. After fishing partially frozen lakes & stream at 8600 feet and only catching Rainbow & Brown Trout, Andy went to Silver Creek, near Show Low, AZ to try to find an Apache Trout. The local hatchery manager said that spring, summer & fall were the best times to fish the creek for Apache Trout and doubted one could be found in December. Andy (& Georgia) hiked upstream about a mile & a half where several fish were spotted in a large pool. Using an emerger pattern, Andy caught several rainbows, then he switched to a "Jeff Morgan tied beetle" pattern on his 2wt. Orvis Rod with 4 lb. IGFA Orvis Mirage tippet. The beetle was on the water for only moments when a large fish came up, looked it over & rejected the fly. A second cast brought a smashing strike on the beetle! The Rainbow hit the fly, flew out of the water, making porpoiseing jumps upstream while stripping the 2wt to the backing. After covering nearly 2 blocks of stream at high speed the fish came to the net. A beautiful 25", 8 lb. Arizona Rainbow! Not an Apache Trout, but a great doorprize!!
